According to legend, a supernatural white wolf transformed himself into a killer whale. Their pack behavior and similar predatory tendencies also link these animals. Incredibly detailed pendant depicts the raven shape shifted into a fir needle. Wear the legend! 2" long. The legends of the Haida people tell how in the beginning the world was dark and the sun was kept hidden in the house of the sky chief. To gain access to the house, the raven transformed himself into a fir needle and was consumed by the chief's daughter when she drank from a stream. Once in the house, he became the woman's child, and tricked the sky chief into letting his new grandson near the sun. Solid sterling silver salmon ring called "Coho Crossover". Symbolic of the life cycle of the Northwest salmon. Salmon are anadromous, meaning they are born in freshwater, live most of their lives in salt water and then migrate back to the freshwater they were born in. Salmon are a keystone species-a species upon which many other animals depend- because they provide nutrients to the river and surrounding area where they spawn and die and are also a major source of food for other species such as killer whales and bears.
